FAQs

What is the difference between homeopathy and conventional medicine?

Homeopathic remedies stimulate the patient’s own healing energies. It is based on law of similar, which means if a substance can cause toxicity or some symptoms in a larger dose, the same substance in minute dose (prepared homeopathically) can cure those symptoms. Homeopathy does not believe in suppressing symptoms, while in the conventional system, medicines suppress, eliminate and control symptoms.

How are Homeopathic remedies made?

Homeopathic remedies are made with process of dilution and succusion and this process is called potentization. Small portion of the crude substance (out of which remedy is made) is taken and it is diluted in water, alcohol or in powdered sugar then it is shaken vigorously. This process is repeated multiple times to make different potencies.  Manufacture, marketing, and sales of homeopathic remedies are regulated by FDA and homeopathic remedies are made according to a book of standards called the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS).

What is Potency?

Potency indicates numbers of dilutions and successions. The numerical number indicates numbers of dilution of the substance and alphabet after this number indicates the dilution ratio.  For example in 30 X potency the number 30 indicates that that particular remedy has been diluted and succussed 30 times and the letter “X” indicates that one drop of mother tincture has been diluted in 9 parts of water and succussed then one drop of this solution has been diluted in to next 9 parts of water and so on till total 30 dilutions. X potency also known as decimal potency. Same way 30 C indicates that remedy has been diluted and succussed 30 times and dilution ratio is 1:100. The C potency is also known as centesimal potency. 1M potency means 1,000C. In M potencies one part of medicinal substance is diluted in 1,000 parts of diluting material.  LM or Q potency uses one part medicinal substance in fifty thousand parts of the diluting material.

How long does it take to recover with homeopathy?

First of all we have to understand that each pet/animal is unique. For example there could be ten dogs coughing but each dog might need different remedy and each dog might take different time period to recover. Remedies help to stimulate the vital forces (defense mechanism) of the patient. Complete healing is possible if there are only functional disturbances. If more structural and pathological changes are present or where tissue damage is irreversible then healing takes time or treatment could be just palliative. In short, I have seen recovery in one day to months depending on cases.
